How to have a Paleo Christmas (Dessert Recipe!)

However, often during this season it´s hard to stick to your healthy paleo diet and resist the temptations of the yummy Christmas puddings, the cinnamon rolls, the freshly baked cookies and the cakes.

Everyone gathers around the table to enjoy all the sweet miraculous delights. But for anyone with health concerns it is a real Christmas miracle when we can indulge in a Christmas dessert that’s healthy.

 

 

We completely understand that it´s Christmas time and the time to indulge with friends and family and enjoy a treat (or eight), but we´re making it a little easier for you to be your healthiest and most radiant self with this extremely scrumptious, creamy and nutritious chocolate mousse. It´s paleo, dairy-free, gluten-free and raw too!

You might not be thinking about the health benefits of what you´re eating at this time of the year – but in case you are interested, the ingredients collectively are very high in beneficial fatty acids, protein, fibre, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. So, you can feel good and healthy about celebrating the festive season and impress your guests with this nutritious paleo chocolate mousse. It really is so easy, but you can practice before Christmas day comes (and enjoy it more than once!)

 

 

What you will need: (serves 8)

  • 4 large ripe avocados

  • 4 large ripe bananastlrc-paleo-choc-mousse3

  • 1/2 cup raw cacao powder

  • 2 tbsp chia seeds soaked in water for 10-20 minutes

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 tbsp raw honey – or you can use maple syrup, rice malt syrup, molasses, coconut sugar or 1 pinch of stevia (Sweetener is optional as the bananas offer a great level of sweetness).

  • Mixed berries to serve

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until fluffy and smooth. Serve into small desert bowls or glasses, top with berries, and there you have it – the yummiest paleo indulgent treat.
