Biohack your thyroid in your 40’s and beyond

November 24, 2020November 18, 2020by Lucy Rose Clinicin Autoimmune, Complementary Practices, Diagnosis & Testing, General Knowledge, Hormones, Liver health, Mental Health, Nodules & Growths, Nutrition, Sleep, Stress hormones, Supplements, Thyroid, Thyroid Conditions, Weight LossTags 40, ageing, antiageing, biohack, biohacking, Energy, fertility, perimenopause, thyroid, weight

Most people don’t consider their thyroid at the early signs of ageing. Or they just test get TSH tested and dismiss it when they are told it is fine.

Typically we start to see early signs of ageing from the age of 40, and depending on when a woman start peri-menopause, her symptoms may be a lot worse at an earlier age.

The good news is that you don’t have to accept it. You can biohack it! And the earlier you start, the better the results.

Getting older can throw a number of different symptoms our way, some minor annoyances, other are life disruptive.

Premature wrinkles, thinning skin, melasma or pigmentation, weight gain, mood changes, blood shot eyes, weak nails, and many more seemingly ‘cosmetic’ issues are signs that your body is needing help.

We all will age, but the rate you age at a biochemical level varies and is largely determined by your health status.

We can biohack ageing by addressing these health issues by discovering the true reason behind them, and then assisting the body to heal and overcome the imbalance – resulting in you feeling and looking younger!

Figuring out exactly what is driving the symptoms is what really needs to happen first, and often medical testing will totally miss suboptimal problems because they are designed to diagnose disease states.

The following symptoms can be due to imbalances in the thyroid, adrenal, blood sugar OR sex hormones;

  • Hot flashes
  • Night sweats
  • Sweating under the arms, back of neck or palms
  • Wired and tired
  • Sleep issues – insomnia, frequent waking etc.
  • Excessive night time urination
  • Irritability, low mood, anxiety, zero motivation
  • Loss of libido
  • Food cravings: carbs, sugar, caffeine or alcohol
  • Fatigue
  • Forgetfulness
  • Weight gain
  • Irregular menstrual cycles
  • Cold intolerance

Figuring out what is causing symptoms requires more sensitive testing than Medicare uses. This is called functional pathology. The intent of functional pathology is to assess the function of the body systems, and the root cause behind imbalances – be it nutritional balance, infections, immune dysfunction, food intolerance or chronic stress disorders – to name a few.

What is biohacking?

Biohacking is just a fancy new term for what naturopaths and healers have been doing for centuries. Using diet and lifestyle modification strategies to reverse illness, improve life quality, and arguable increase lifespan. While this has been happening for centuries, today we are learning the science behind it, and able to pinpoint more precisely the specific nutritional and diet interventions an individual needs based on pathology for the fastest and maximum results.

Patient Review:

“I just wish I had found this years ago!!

General dr told me my thyroid was “fine” and I needed antidepressants. Through thorough testing, this clinic (as I suspected) found out that I have hypothyroidism. By taking all sorts of supplements and following the food guide, I am healing my gut and restoring health! Amazingly within weeks I started seeing results – weight loss, mood stability, more energy… I’m a month and a half into the treatment, and can’t be happier about the results so far.”

– K.W.
