Have You Lost Yourself?

By Lucy Rose Clinic

February 14, 2021

So often we see ladies – and men – who have been giving to others for so long, that they don’t have any more to give – literally.

Their hormones are depleted, they have no enthusiasm for life, and don’t even talk about LIBIDO! It ain’t there.

Today I have a true patient story to share – I hope you enjoy it, and if you need help, reach out.

They are not themselves, they don’t feel right, and they have no answers. So they continue for another year, eating the right foods, doing their best, juggling life’s demands. But they don’t get better – they get worse.

It would sound weird to someone in good health, but every day our patients report that they are relieved – and often teary – to find out that they actually have a thyroid issue!

Having someone just say – “This is NOT in your head, clearly something is not right, we need to look further” is a huge relief.

Sarah* came to us because she was sick of feeling Not-Herself.

These are the concerns she listed:

  • Peri menopausal
  • Low energy
  • No libido
  • Weight gain
  • Irregular menstrual cycle
  • Anxiety
  • Unusually emotional
  • Interrupted sleep patterns

She had a laugh about her symptoms – she had a great sense of humour – but I could see the fatigue in her eyes from across the room, and that it took a lot of effort for her to present her personality to me.

Then this was the question that hit a nerve,

“Do you find you need to pull on your mental energy to keep up appearances all day?” she started to tear up.

I was the first person to actually acknowledge how hard things were for her at that time inside herself.

“Yes”, she said, “It’s EXHAUSTING!”

The thing she was most affected by was that she said she felt like she had lost herself.

She had put on 30kg in the last five years – the majority of that weight gain happening rapidly in the last 6 months. She was eating less and exercising more, yet the weight kept piling on, especially around the middle.

Her relationship was being affected due to her lack of libido, coupled with a deep sense of physical and mental fatigue – all day long.

Seeing this result really hit home, and she was adamant that she was going to focus on herself and get this under control.

She really impressed us with how she set her mind to her treatment plan, and she responded quite fast. By the next consult – four weeks into the treatment – her energy was 80% back and her eyes were sparkling again.

At the 8 week consult, her period was more regular and even, without the same symptoms of PMS that she had been experiencing. In fact, all her symptom scores had improved excellently.

At week 12, every single problem she listed initially as her concerns were fixed!

We love seeing our patients get these results, and seeing the transformation from malaise to vitality.
