This test examines the levels of main female and male hormones. It is important because as we age (for women in particular) there is a natural decline in testosterone and progesterone levels which creates a relative excess of estrogen. This is a natural process however, if something isn’t working as it should, this natural decline can spin out of control and generate further, unintended, consequences in other areas of the body. This test is also useful to assess issues with libido, hair growth, fertility, PMT, Endometriosis, Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), and Menopause in women.

Estrogen helps to develop and maintain the reproductive system and female characteristics (e.g. breasts and pubic hair). It can also assist with cognitive and bone health along with other essential bodily processes.
Progesterone has three main roles in the body: (1) Preparing it for conception (2) Maintaining a pregnancy and (3) Regulating your monthly menstrual cycle (Menstruation and Menopause).
This hormone plays a critical role in the development of the make reproductive organs and characteristics. For example increased bone mass and body hair growth.
LH plays an important role in the function of specific sex organs, whilst FSH contributes to hair growth.
