Endometriosis Treatment

What is Endometriosis?

Endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus (the endometrium) grows outside the uterus. This tissue often appears on the ovaries, fallopian tubes, bowel, or bladder and responds to hormonal cycles the same way as uterine tissue, thickening and bleeding each month. But since it has no way to exit the body, it leads to inflammation, scar tissue, pain, and in many cases, fertility challenges.

It’s estimated that 1 in 9 women are affected, and many go 7–10 years without a correct diagnosis.

Symptoms and Causes

Many women are told their symptoms are “normal,” when in fact they may point to a deeper imbalance. You may experience:

Underlying Causes and Risk Factors

While the exact cause of endometriosis remains unclear, functional medicine suggests that a combination of hormonal imbalancesinflammationgut health issues, and detoxification problems may contribute to its development. At The Lucy Rose Clinic, we work to identify and address these interconnected systems to provide long-term relief  not just symptom management.

Our Recommended Testing

Traditional diagnosis often involves laparoscopy, an invasive surgical procedure. At The Lucy Rose Clinic, we offer a non-invasive, functional medicine approach to uncovering hormonal and systemic imbalances.

This full-body approach allows us to create a personalised treatment plan that targets your unique root causes.

Thyroid Profile blood test kit

Thyroid Profile

FASTING BLOOD TEST

This panel tests 8 markers essential to understanding thyroid function, metabolism, and systemic inflammation. This test is critical for those with Endometriosis, particularly as high Reverse T3 and antibody activity can exacerbate the hormonal imbalances and fatigue associated with the condition.

Iodine and Halide Profile test kit

Halide Profile

24-HOUR URINARY IODINE LOADING EXCRETION TEST

Bromide blocks iodine absorption, creating a state of ill health. Iodine is essential for optimal thyroid hormone synthesis and supports immune health. For Endometriosis sufferers, maintaining iodine levels is vital, as iodine helps regulate oestrogen receptors and can assist in reducing pelvic inflammatory markers.

Stress and Sleep Profile test kit

Stress & Sleep Profile

DIURNAL SALIVARY CORTISOL TEST

Chronic pain from Endometriosis often leads to non-restorative sleep and HPA-axis (adrenal) dysfunction. Disrupted cortisol patterns drive the stress response, further worsening pain sensitivity and nocturnal restlessness. Our test identifies your unique stress rhythm to provide targeted, holistic support.

Sugar and Fat Storage Profile test kit

Sugar & Fat Storage

FASTING BLOOD
TEST

Many women with Endometriosis experience significant blood sugar swings and insulin resistance. These imbalances trigger internal inflammation and adrenal strain, which can worsen the severity of cyclic flare-ups and impact energy levels.

Cardiovascular Profile and CRP test kit

Cardiovascular Profile

FASTING BLOOD
TEST

Endometriosis is increasingly linked to cardiovascular markers and autonomic nervous system dysregulation. Monitoring these markers is essential for a long-term, preventative approach to your total vascular and metabolic health.

Metabolic Markers blood test kit

Metabolic Markers

FASTING BLOOD
TEST

Metabolic markers assess energy production and detoxification—critical areas for Endometriosis patients. Understanding your metabolic baseline allows us to provide the correct therapeutic guidance to improve cellular vitality.

Detox Profile liver function test kit

Detox Profile

FASTING BLOOD
TEST

The inflammatory burden of Endometriosis can impact the body’s ability to naturally detoxify, leading to a build-up of metabolic waste and “oestrogen dominance.” This profile assesses liver function, ensuring your body can effectively clear toxins and spent hormones.

Sex Hormone Profile test kit

Sex Hormone Profile

FASTING BLOOD
TEST

Imbalances in oestrogen and progesterone are the hallmark of Endometriosis, affecting pain sensitivity, mood, and the growth of endometrial lesions. This profile also assesses testosterone, which is vital for muscle strength and the “get-up-and-go” energy often depleted by this condition.

Food Intolerance Test kit

Food Intolerance Profile

NON-FASTING BLOOD
TEST

Systemic inflammation in Endometriosis often leads to a “leaky gut” and new food intolerances. Identifying these triggers is a key step in lowering your overall inflammatory load. Our goal is to soothe the digestive system so you can eventually enjoy a wider variety of foods again.

Thyroid Profile blood test kit

Thyroid Profile

FASTING BLOOD TEST

This panel tests 8 markers which is essential to understanding the function of your thyroid, your metabolism and any inflammation that is present in the body. This test is critical for sufferers of fibromyalgia, especially seeing Reverse T3 readings and antibody activity.

Iodine and Halide Profile test kit

Halide Profile

24 HOUR URINARY IODINE LOADING EXCRETION TEST

Bromide blocks iodine absorption in the body creating a state of ill health. Iodine has proven a useful supplement when given appropriately to relieve pain caused by viral overload. Iodine is also essential for optimal thyroid hormone synthesis and function, plus supports better immune system health.

Stress and Sleep Profile test kit

Stress & Sleep Profile

DIURNAL SALIVARY CORTISOL TEST

Non-restorative sleep is a major concern for Fibromyalgia patients. Typical EEG pattern of “alpha wave intrusion” during non-REM delta wave sleep drives the stress response, disrupting diurnal and noctural patterns. Our Sleep and Stress test will identify how impacted you are by this, and help us offer more appropriate support.

Sugar and Fat Storage Profile test kit

Sugar & Fat Storage

FASTING BLOOD
TEST

Most people with Fibromyalgia suffer with blood sugar swings and are more prone to diabetes. Low blood sugar and insulin resistance cause adrenal problems, as well as yeast overgrowth, all of which ultimately worsen symptoms.

Cardiovascular Profile and CRP test kit

Cardiovascular Profile

FASTING BLOOD
TEST

Fibromyalgia is associated with cardiovascular problems by interfering with the regulation of the autonomic nervous system.

Metabolic Markers blood test kit

Metabolic Markers

FASTING BLOOD
TEST

Metabolic Markers assess energy, metabolism, and detoxification – all areas that Fibromyalgia sufferers need assessed for correct therapeutic guidance.

Detox Profile liver function test kit

Detox Profile

FASTING BLOOD
TEST

Lower cellular function associated with Fibromyalgia impacts the body’s ability to naturally detoxify by slowing down production of key enzymes. This leads to toxin and hormone accumulation and impacts all-over health and wellness. This profile assesses your liver function, allowing us to properly support better toxin clearance from your body.

Sex Hormone Profile test kit

Sex Hormone Profile

FASTING BLOOD
TEST

Fluctuations in estrogen and progesterone levels can affect pain sensitivity, inflammation and can also contribute to mood and sleep disturbances common to fibromyalgia patients. Testosterone levels can impact pain levels, muscle strength and overall energy levels, which are also common concerns of this condition.

Food Intolerance Test kit

Food Intolerance Profile

NON-FASTING BLOOD
TEST

Patients with fibromyalgia commonly develop food intolerances to even everyday healthy foods. A simple blood test will identify what is triggering you and what is safe to eat. The long-term goal of this test is to eventually correct the intolerance to safely consume trigger foods again.

Treatment Options for Emdometriosis

Medical Treatments

Mainstream treatments often aim to control symptoms, not underlying causes. .

Options may include:

Birth control pills, hormonal IUDs, contraceptive implants, or injections are often prescribed to regulate or stop the menstrual cycle.

Prescription medications like Lupron or Zoladex that temporarily put the body into a menopausal state.

Over-the-counter or prescription pain relievers such as ibuprofen or naproxen.

A minimally invasive surgical procedure where a surgeon uses a small camera to locate and remove (or burn off) visible endometrial lesions.

Integrative Treatments

We believe in a holistic, individualised path to healing. Your treatment plan may include:

Using a combination of functional testing and personalised treatment strategies, this approach helps support your body’s natural healing process gently and sustainably. .

Here’s what a care plan may include:

To balance Estrogen and Progesterone

Specific plant-based remedies such as chaste tree (Vitex agnus-castus) or peony and licorice root are used to gently support your body’s natural hormone production.

To support Liver Detox, Hormone Metabolism, and Reduce Pain.

Targeted supplements (nutraceuticals) like DIM (Diindolylmethane), calcium-D-glucarate, magnesium, and omega-3s may be recommended based on your test results.

You’ll receive a personalised dietary guide that reduces inflammation and supports hormone health often including gluten-free, dairy-free, and low-sugar options, while focusing on whole, nutrient-dense foods.

Chronic stress disrupts hormonal signals  particularly in the adrenal glands. We use tools like adaptogenic herbs (e.g., ashwagandha, rhodiola), guided breathing, and sleep support protocols to help your body reset.

Ongoing Naturopathic Support Through Virtual Consultations.

You won’t be left figuring it all out alone. Our team of trained naturopaths will support you through regular phone or video consultations, adjusting your treatment as your body responds.
